Joy, happiness and confidence for what you are doing

"Essential things in my design philosophy are being experimental and having a brave touch, being open-minded with different materials and techniques and joy, happiness and confidence for what you are doing."

Illustrator and visual artist Jenni Tuominen has designed patterns for Marimekko since 2006. The same year, she won her first award in Marimekko's competition "Design, meet the user!".

Tuominen, who has graduated from both Arts Academy at Turku University of Applied Sciences and School of Arts, Design and Architecture, makes patterns for a diverse clientele both in Finland and internationally.

Her latest customers are the Swiss department store Globus, to whom she designed a series of ceramic sculptures. She has also designed a series of woolen carpets for a Finnish design company Mums. Her first picture book for children, Jengi –siististi sotkussa (January 2018) is made in collaboration with illustrator Jukka Pylvä.

Tuominen is interested in different projects and collaborations. She has exhibited both in Finland and abroad.
